Chinatown
Chinatown in Boston is the only historic Chinatown in New England and the third largest in the USA. The neighborhood first became populated by Chinese immigrants in the 1890s. The neighborhood’s official entrance is a park with a paifang gate with inscriptions on each side. One side has a Chinese proverb that says a good person is loyal, honest, and polite. The other inscription says that everything under the sun belongs to the people. The neighborhood is a bustling community with numerous markets, restaurants, shops, and restaurants mixed into the historic buildings of Boston. Chinatown, and much of the surrounding areas, stand on what was once tidal flats that were filled in to create the current Boston footprint.
